Introducing the IGA Indoor Club Program
BOISE, Idaho — Fall golf is officially here. The sun has tamed, the breeze doesn’t bite, and warm colors burst from the branches lining your favorite fairways. But fall is also a signal for darker days to come.
Frost delays shrink tee sheets. Early sunsets rob us of post-work nines. Eventually, snow will shutter pro shops. But the season that used to drive golf underground is beginning to drive it indoors.
That’s why the Idaho Golf Association is excited to announce its Indoor Club Program — growing our network to include all the ways you play.
The IGA, like many other golf associations across the world, is built around a network of member clubs where golfers like you go to engage with the game. Many of our traditional “green-grass” facilities have invested in simulator technology in recent years, building public-use hitting bays once saved for fitting and teaching. Other venues are purpose-built for simulator technology. Their business is centered around an appetite for golf that doesn’t die when the snow falls.
Before his departure from the Idaho Golf Association, former Executive Director Caleb Cox made it a priority to get the ball rolling on this program. He believed that the heart of our mission to engage, enhance and grow the Idaho golf community was bringing stakeholders together to make our local golf ecosystem as strong as it could possibly be. Today, we continue that effort to give every Idaho golfer more avenues to engage with the game in ways that enrich their day-to-day lives.
The Indoor Club Program has two central pillars: an extension of our digital Member Club Tournament Book and a public directory for Idaho’s golfers to find indoor facilities to keep swinging through the winter (or whenever traditional facilities don’t fit the bill).
With access to the Indoor Club Tournament Book, indoor facilities will be able to promote events and collect online registrations in the same place golfers have come to expect their opportunities to play and compete. For the player, our searchable public directory of Indoor Clubs can be filtered by technology and location, helping guide you to the facility that best suits your needs.
The IGA believes it’s essential to recognize these venues as an extension of our golf community and not a separate sector. Indoor options not only offer refuge weather and darkness; they create a less intimidating environment for newcomers to try their hand at the game, opening the door for a new era of growth.
The modern world has more to offer golfers than ever before, and we remain committed to helping you make the most of your life in the game — however the game continues to evolve.
